Maharashtra COVID-19 active case count drops to 27,798

India's COVID-19 caseload reached 4,27,80,235, including 2,92,092 active cases, while the death toll mounted to 5,10,905 as the infection claimed 492 more lives.

Maharashtra, which has the highest number of COVID-19 confirmed caseload among all states and UTs in the country, continued to witness a downtrend in COVID-19 situation in the state, as its cumulative COVID-19 active case count dropped to 27,798, as per the latest updates by the Union Ministry on Friday.

According to the ministry's dashboard, the state's COVID-19 caseload reached 78,53,291 as of Friday, including 76,81,961 COVID-19 recoveries and death toll of 1,43,532. The state on Friday reported 2,797 more positive cases and 40 total COVID-19 deaths.

Kerala, with the second highest COVID-19 tally of 64,49,026 has the highest COVID-19 active caseload of 1,00,211 among all states and UTs in India with the report of 8,655 new positive cases. Its recoveries and death toll reached 62,85,477 and 63,338 respectively. It reported 319 more deaths.

Kerala is followed by Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Rajasthan with high COVID-19 active cases in the country.

Delhi today has 18,54,167 confirmed tally and 3,026 active cases with the report of 739 new positive cases. The death toll 26,091 as the disease claimed five more lives on Friday.

Meanwhile, India's COVID-19 caseload reached 4,27,80,235, including 2,92,092 active cases, while the death toll mounted to 5,10,905 as 492 more patients died of the disease. The single-day active cases fell to 25,920, while 66,254 more patients recovered. The total recoveries reached 4,19,77,238 as of Friday.

COVID-19 test in India

A new single-day Covid test of 12,54,893 pushed India's total test conducted 75,68,51,787 cumulative tests. While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, the Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 2.76% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 2.07%.

COVID-19 vaccination in India

And, with the administration of more than 37.86 lakh (37,86,806) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 174.64 Cr (1,74,64,99,461) as per provisional reports till 7 am Friday.

Meanwhile, the ministry stated that more than 171.76 crore (1,71,76,39,430) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through the Central government (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. More than 11.41 Cr (11,41,57,231) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.
