Omicron cases in India reached 1,892, while the total COVID-19 confirmed caseload mounted to 3,49,60,261 and the death toll reached 4,82,017, acording to the latest updates by the Union Home Ministry on Tuesday.
Of the total Omicron cases in India, Maharashtra has 568 cases, highest among the 23 states affected by the new variant of COVID-19, followed by Delhi with 382 cases, Kerala-185, Rajasthan-174, Gujarat-152 and Tamil Nadu-121.
Meanwhile, 766 patients infected with Omicron have recovered, while the total COVID-19 recoveries across the country is 3,43,06,414 as of Tuesday, the ministry stated in a release.
Also, a total of 37,379 new COVID-19 cases were reported in a span of 24 hours, as per the latest update by the ministry. Consequently, the country’s daily positivity rate is 3.24% and the weekly positivity rate (2.05%)
India's COVID-19 active caseload stood at 1,71,830. The active cases account for less than one per cent of the total cases, currently at 0.49 per cent, while the recovery rate currently is 98.13 per cent.
A total of 68.24 crore tests have been conducted so far and 146.70 cr vaccine doses administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
