COVID-19 claimed 441 more lives that pushed the country's Covid-19 death toll to 4,87,202, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday morning.
The country also reported 2,82,970 new COVID-19 cases. With it, its active caseload climbed to 18,31,000 and the confirmed positive caseload reached 3,79,01,241 so far.
In all, 8,961 total Omicron cases have been detected across the country so far; an increase of 0.79 per cent since Tuesday.
Meanwhile, 1,88,157 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours increases, taking the total recoveries to 3,55,83,039 so far.
Consequently, the recovery rate stood at 93.88 per cent, while the daily positivity rate is 15.13 per cent and the weekly positivity rate moved to 15.53 per cent. Covid active cases stood at 4.83 per cent.
So far, 70.74 crore total tests have been conducted across the country. A total of 18,69,642 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
Under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, with the administration of more than 76 lakh Doses (76,35,229) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 158.88 Cr (1,58,88,47,554) as per provisional reports till 7 am on Wednesday, the Health Ministry stated in a release.
According to the ministry, more than 158.46 crore (1,58,46,26,485) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through the Government of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. More than 12.84 Cr (12,84,31,646) balance and unutilized COVID vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.
The Union Government stated that it is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country.
