India's COVID-19 active caseload drops to 43,994

India recorded 4,912 new COVID-19 cases and 23 more deaths in 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry.

India logged 4,912 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's tally to 4,45,68,114, while the death toll surged to 5,28,510 with 23 more fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The number of active cases dropped to 43,994 from Saturday's 44,436. Active cases constitute 0.10 per cent of the country's total positive cases, the Health Ministry said.

India also recorded 5,196 new COVID-19 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 4,39,95,610 and the recovery rate is 98.72 per cent as on Sunday.

As many as 89,36,54,428 COVID-19 tests have so far been conducted in India, including 3,02,283 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, as per the Health Ministry.

While the weekly positivity rate in the country was recorded at 1.63 per cent, the daily positivity rate was reported to be 1.58 per cent, the ministry added.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 2,17,56,67,942, including 20,34,44,788 precaution doses.
