India reports 2,38,018 new COVID-19 cases, 310 more deaths

As per the latest update by the Union Health Ministry, India’s COVID-19 confirmed caseload is now 3,76,18,271, with Maharashtra’s caseload reaching 72,42,921, the highest among all states and UTs in the country.

India on Tuesday reported 2,38,018 new COVID-19 cases in a span of 24 hours that pushed the active caseload to 17,36,628, while the number of Omicron cases detected so far reached 8,891, an increase of 8.31 per cent since Monday, official sources said.

As per the latest update by the Union Health Ministry, India’s COVID-19 confirmed caseload is now 3,76,18,271, with Maharashtra’s caseload reaching 72,42,921, the highest among all states and UTs in the country.

Kerala today has the second highest number of COVID-19 confirmed caseload of 54,01,777, followed by Karnataka with 32,47,243 cases, and Tamil Nadu with 29,63,366 cases.

The country’s COVID-19 active cases stood at 4.62 per cent, while the recovery rate moved to at 94.09 per cent.

As many as 1,57,421 more recoveries were reported taking the total recoveries to 3,53,94,882 across the country, while the death toll reached 4,86,761 with 310 more fatalities.

The daily positivity rate currently is 14.43 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate is 14.92 per cent.

So far, 70.54 crore total tests have been conducted across the country so far.  A total of 16,49,143 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. And 158.04 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
