India records 21,566 new COVID-19 cases, 45 more fatalities

A total of 5,07,360 COVID-19 tests were conducted in India in the last 24 hours. India has so far conducted 87,11,60,846 COVID-19 cases.

India on Thursday recorded 21,566 new COVID-19 cases taking the total tally of Coronavirus cases to 4,38,25,185, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

The death toll climbed to 5,25,870 with 45 more fatalities, the Health Ministry stated.

The 45 COVID-19 fatalities include 17 from Kerala, seven from Maharashtra, six from West Bengal, two each from Uttarakhand, Assam, Bihar and Rajasthan, and one each from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh Goa, Mizoram and Sikkim,

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.25 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 4.51 per cent, as per the latest update.

The country also recorded 18,294 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, increasing the total number of recovered cases to 4,31,50,434.. India's recovery rate currently stood at 98.46 per cent.

Consequently, India's COVID-19 active caseload stood at 1,48,881 as of Thursday..

As many as 2,00,91,91,969 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in India under the COVID-19 vaccination drive, according to the latest update.
