Dimapur's COVID-19 positive tally of 799 highest in Nagaland

Nagaland has registered total tally of 6,888 COVID-19 confirmed cases till date.

In Nagaland, Dimapur has the highest cumulative number of COVID-19 confirmed tally with 799 cases, followed by Kohima with 279 cases and Mon, 82, while the state’s tally has reached 6,888, according to the state health department.

On Friday, the state registered 152 more COVID-19 positive cases, including 24 security personnel, state Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said. He said that of the new cases, 133 were reported from Dimapur, while 15 are from Kohima and one each from Peren, Mon, Longleng and Mokokchung districts, he said.

Meanwhile, cumulative 5,608 COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals across the state and the recovery rate in the state has risen to 81.32 per cent. So far, the state has reported 19 deaths due to COVID-19.

Of the total 84,777 samples sent for COVID-19 test in the state so far, 1,545 infected patients are returnees from other parts of the country and 3,178 confirmed positive are central security personnel.

Meanwhile, the Nagaland government has issued guidelines for the celebration of Durga puja from October 23-26 in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The guidelines include the following eight measures

1. Pandals to be set up only at temples.

2. No pandal to be set up on and by the side of any road

3. No stalls shall be set up near the pandals

4. Not more than 30 people, including organisers and priests, should be allowed to gather in puja pandals.

5. No visitor without wearing masks to be allowed to enter puja pandals

6. Screening and thermal scanning to be carried out on all visitors to the pandal before entering.

7. No person with COVID-19 symptoms to be allowed to enter the pandal premises.

8. Facilities for hand washing and sanitization to be arranged at the entrance of pandals
