COVID-19 death toll in India rose to 1,50,798 as 228 more persons succumbed to the infection, while the total caseload surged to 1,04,31,639 with 18,222 new cases reported in a day, the Union Health Ministry said.
There are 2,24,190 active cases in the country which is 2.15 per cent of the total caseload.
On Saturday, the country recorded 19,253 new recoveries, pushing the number of recovered cases to 1,00,56,651. The national recovery rate has improved to 96.41 per cent, the ministry said.
The national cumulative positivity rate has reduced from 8.93 per cent to 5.79 per cent in a span of five months, as per the health ministry.
Maharashtra continued to be the worst COVID-19 affected state with 19,61,975 total cases and 49,970 deaths, followed by Karnataka with 9,25,868 cases and 12,134 deaths and Andhra Pradesh with 8,84,490 cases, according to the ministry.
Meanwhile, the nationwide dry run of COVID-19 vaccination on Friday covered 4,895 session sites across 615 districts in 33 States/UTs.
India has crossed the landmark of 18 crore (18,02,53,315) COVID-19 cumulative tests so far, of which 9,16,951 tests were conducted on Friday, the health ministry added.
