COVID-19 cases in Assam rise to 3,319 as 34 more test positive

Assam now has 2,061 active COVID-19 cases.

Assam on Thursday reported 34 more COVID-19 positive cases, taking the total number of cases in the state to 3,319, official sources said.

Of the 34 new cases, 15 cases were reported from Nagaon, six from Golaghat, three each from Barpeta, Baksa and Sonitpur and one each from Chirang, Karbi Anglong West, Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur, state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

"34 new #COVID19+ cases reported. 15 Nagaon, 6 Golaghat, 3 Barpeta, 3 Baksa, 3 Sonitpur, 1 Chirang, 1 Karbi Anglong West, 1 Dibrugarh, 1 Lakhimpur," the minister tweeted.

Assam now has 2,061 active COVID-19 cases. While the number of recovered cases in the state stood at 1,249, six patients have succumbed to the virus. Three other patients have migrated to other states, Sarma said.

On Wednesday, as many as 235 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported from different parts of the state, taking the total cases to 3,285.
