COVID-19 Active Cases in India: Maharashtra falls to third place

Kerala reported surge in single day COVID-19 active cases, pushing Maharashtra to third place among all states and UTs in India.

COVID-19 active cases in Kerala surged to 3,10,202, pushing Maharashtra to third place among all states and UTs in India. Maharashtra's COVID-19 active caseload dropped to 2,91,247, while Karnataka continued to report the highest COVID-19 active cases in India with the total case number rising to 3,28,741, according to official sources on Friday morning.

According to the Union Health Ministry's bulletin, the country reported 2,86,384 more COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours. Following it, the country's COVID-19 confirmed caseload reached 4,03,71,500, while the death toll mounted to 4,91,700 as 573 more patients succumb to the disease in the last 24 hours, the ministry stated.

Maharashtra still has the highest number of COVID-19 confirmed cases at 76,30,606, followed by Kerala and Karnataka with 58,26,596 and 36,92,496 respectively. Delhi has been witnessing a steady decline in the number of single day positive cases. Following it, its COVID-19 active caseload stood at 33,175 as of Friday.

Meanwhile, India's Recovery Rate currently is 93.60 per cent as 3,47,443 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours that pushed the total recoveries to 3,80,24,771.

Consequently, India's COVID-19 active caseload stood at 21,05,611 and the active cases is 5.18 per cent, while the daily positivity rate currently is 15.88 per cent weekly positivity rate is 17.47 per cent.

So far, 72.37 crore total tests have been conducted across the country; as 15,82,307 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 164.44 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
