Assam's COVID-19 tally surges to 4,66,590; death toll 4,028

Assam recorded 3,415 new COVID-19 positive cases and 34 deaths on Tuesday.

Assam on Tuesday recorded 3,415 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's caseload to 4,66,590, while the death toll mounted to 4,028 with 34 more fatalities on Tuesday, according to the National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin.

As per the NHM bulletin, five deaths were reported from Tinsukia, four from Lakhimpur, three each from Jorhat and Nagaon, two each from Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Kamrup Metropolitan, Karbi Anglong, and Sivasagar, and one each from Baksa, Cachar, Hojai, Kamrup, Karimganj, Sonitpur and Udalguri. As many as 1,347 more COVID-19 patients have so far died in the state, but their deaths are not due to COVID-19, it added.  

Among the new cases, Jorhat reported the highest number of cases at 277, followed by Golaghat at 231, Cachar with 230 and Tinsukia with 228. As many as 1,28,90,922 samples have so far been tested for COVID-19 in Assam.

Meanwhile, 2,906 new recoveries pushed the cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases to 4,21,378 on Tuesday.

The NHM further added that a total of 49,51,231 doses of vaccines have been administered in the state, including 39,83,642 first doses and 9,67,589 second doses.
