Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been hospitalised, according to reports.
The governor was found positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday. He was admitted at the Apollo Hospital in Guwahati. His condition is said to be stable, the reports said.
Meanwhile, Assam reported 3,274 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths on Wednesday, taking the state's tally to 6,35,050 and death toll to 6,189, the state National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin said.
As per the bulletin, a total of 1,347 COVID-positive patients also have so far died in Assam but their deaths were not due to COVID-19.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases in the state is 6,15,722, leaving the number of active cases at 11,792, it added.
Assam has so far conducted as many as 2,70,43,185 COVID-19 tests, while 3.96,00,103 doses of COVID vaccines, (First Dose: 2,28,18,134, Second Dose: 1,67,52,628, and Precautionary Dose: 29,341) have been administered in the state as of Wednesday.
