Khongnangthaba University on Tuesday observed World Environment Day as part of the nationwide campaign ‘Plant4Mother’.
A tree plantation drive was inaugurated by Dean & Director, Khongnangthaba University (AYUSH), Aribam Guneshwor Sharma to mark the event, stated a release.
The activity was carried out in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to the citizens to plant trees as a tribute to their mothers and contribute to preserving and protecting Mother Earth, it stated.
It further stated that the University will develop dedicated green space as part of the larger Matri Van initiative to further bridge the gap in realising the national goal of 80 crores of saplings to be planted before September 2024 and a total of 140 crores of saplings by March 2025 through MoEF&CC.
It also highlighted the University’s commitment towards environmental sustainability and its efforts to realize its mission of fostering awareness and action toward a greener and cleaner future. Many faculty members, staff and students participated in the tree plantation drive, it added.
