The Women Development Committee Heirok along with Heirok Eastern Sporting Union (HESU) on Sunday carried out a cleanliness drive in areas around the club, nearby riverbank and planted various tree saplings.
Speaking on the sidelines, Women Development Committee Heirok secretary Ningthoujam Premila Devi said that the drive aimed to fight climate change, which is a growing environmental crisis.
The increasing industrial companies are one of the biggest contributors to manmade climate change, she added.
She also stressed the need for the people to plant more trees to curb manmade climate change. The drive is being conducted for the 29th time, she mentioned. Premila added that the cleanliness drive is held every Sunday and assured to continue carrying out the drive.
Many members of HESU and Women Development Committee Heirok participated in the drive.
