The Department of Agriculture, Manipur has commenced the marketing of 4 metric tonnes of maize, produced by firms registered under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) Phase – III. The programme is supported by MOMA and implemented by Sarveshwar Foods Limited.
The maize was sold by PAKAN Organic Farmers Producer Company Limited to Chandel Indigenous Farmers Producer Cooperative Society Limited (CIFAPL) under Chandel District Community Resource Management Society (CDCRMS).
Prior to the sales, PAKAN Organic FPC had approached the shareholders of CIFAPL FPO to provide maize for their Poultry Processing Unit this year, for which 4 Metric tonnes were given to them as first consignment.
The consignment was flagged off from PAKAN Organic FPC office, Chandel in the presence of TS Gladney Monsang, DAO, Chandel (Member secretary for District Monitoring committee for FPC & FPO) along with Sarveshwar Food Ltd staff, Chandel, BODs and CEO of PAKAN Organic FPC Limited, board member of CIFAPL and CDCRMS staff.
Speaking on the sidelines, Sarveshwar Foods Limited project manager Khaidem Premjit said that the issue of lack of a marketing platform has been resolved with this marketing opportunities and as such, farmers should avail the benefits of cultivating maize.
PAKAN Organic FPC Ltd also assured to supply further consignment to CIFAPL in the coming days.
