‘The Yellow Sparrow’ nominated for Rainbow award

The Yellow Sparrow, a work by transgender activist Shanta Khurai, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the prestigious “Rainbow Award” at an esteemed literary event honoring South Asian writers who advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.

The book, translated by Rubani Yumkhaibam and published by the Speaking Tiger, has gained international recognition in the non-fiction category of the competition, highlighting Khurai’s influential role in promoting LGBTQ+ advocacy through literature.

Selected as one of the top three finalists, The Yellow Sparrow stands alongside Mental Health Journey and The Grammar of My Body, both powerful works tackling themes of mental health and self-identity.
