Readers’ cabins inaugurated

Library and Information Centre Kakching unveiled 22 Single Reader’s Cabin (carrel) and two group discussion rooms on Tuesday at its auditorium in Kakching district, Manipur.

Library and Information Centre Kakching unveiled 22 Single Reader’s Cabin (carrel) and two group discussion rooms on Tuesday at its auditorium in Kakching district, Manipur.

Principal of Kha Manipur College Kakching professor Yumnam Shantibala, senior citizens forum kakching president former Minister Nongmaithem Nimai, former senior librarian of RIMS and JNIMS and founding president of Library and Information Centre Kakching Naorem Giridhari, donors of the library Yambem Satya, Kshetrimayum Shyamkeshwor and Naorem Nopur among others attended the event.

The speakers also highlighted the significance of physical reading, describing it as a more cherished experience compared to reading from computers and mobile devices. They also urged parents to cultivate a reading-friendly environment at home.

Secretary of Library and Information Centre, Kakching, Ksh Joykumar also highlighted the journey of the library, saying that the library was established on April 21, 1994 by eminent personalities of Kakching. He further mentioned that the newly introduced carrels and discussion rooms will offer expanded opportunities for readers.

Notably, the library has been organising ‘Special Sunday’ on every Sunday over the past eight years.
