Two books, one entitled Loyanganba and written in Meetei Mayek by Pradium Moirangthem, and another entitled "Ode to the Mother" by Chanamthabam Ronika were launched by the National Book Trust (NBT) on the opening day of the World Book Fair 2023 in New Delhi on February 25.
The World Book Fair 2023 that witnessed France as its guest country this year also included Annie Ernaux, 2022 Nobel Prize winner in the guest list. It is scheduled to continue till March 5.
The two books were written under the mentorship scheme of Prime Minister Young Upcoming and Versatile Author (YUVA).
The experiences of the YUVA scheme were highlighted to mediapersons on Wednesday at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal by the two young writers.
Both the books are based on the freedom struggle against British imperialism.
Pradium took the help of MU associate professor Kumari Wahengbam Chanu as his mentor in completing the book while Ronika received training from Achingliu Kamei as her mentor in writing the book, they said.
They also appreciated the Prime Minister and National Book Trust as it is through their initiative that has helped them in achieving their dream.
It is worth mentioning that Pradium and Ronika were only the youths from Manipur from among the total 75 youths from across the country who got selected for the YUVA scheme in 2021.
