The Writers’ Forum, Imphal on Sunday released a travelogue and a poetry book at the Manipur Legislative Assembly Museum and Archives, Old Assembly Road in Imphal West.
The Writers’ Forum stated in a release that the two books entitled Karatoya gi Torbanda (At the banks of Karatoya) a travelogue authored by Arambam ongbi Memchoubi and Ei Mee ni (I am human), a collection of poems written by Lairenlakpam Ibemhal were launched.
The books were launched as a part of the organisation's effort to develop Manipuri literature, it stated.
Forum president Keisham Priyokumar and vice president Irungbam Basanta attended the event as the president, it mentioned. Associate professor at Manipur University, Wahengbam Kumari Chanu Prema and research scholar at Manipur University, Nando Ningomba spoke about the books released.
Basanta highlighted the importance of conserving and promoting the Manipuri language to strengthen the brotherly bond of the hills and valley. He also conveyed acknowledgement to Poknapham Publication for handing out the ‘Padma Award’. Keisham Priyokumar commended the writers of the two books.
"Karatoya gi Torbanda captures the rich traditions and culture of Manipur while Ei Mee ni is a feminist piece which beautifully portrays the role of women in the society,” he added.
