The All Assam Manipuri People’s Convention 2022 unanimously resolved to support the demand for political autonomy for Manipuris in Assam under the leadership of the All Assam Manipuri Youths’ Association (AAMYA).
The convention was organised along with the observance of The Precious Day 2022 by AAMYA at Rajiv Bhawan in Silchar, Assam on Sunday.
Any other club, organisation or committee intending to pursue the demand are appealed to join hands with AAMYA to strengthen the movement with one voice and one objective, as per the resolution.
The convention also decided to urge the chief minister of Manipur to persuade the Assam government to table the Manipur Autonomous Council Bill in the forthcoming Assam Assembly Session.
The resolution was approved by 2,000 members from across the length and breadth of Assam, following a three-hour-long discussion, stated a press communiqué issued by moderator of the convention Khuraijam Athouba who is also the vice-president of IPSA, Kangleipak.
The convention was chaired by chief advisor of AAMYA Ksh Kundal and was also attended by president of MNCA Ksh Singhajit; president of AAMMO Abdul Noor Chaudhury; president of MSPGBA Hemango Singh; president of AMPF Laishram Tejmani; researcher Kunjalal Yendrembam, legal advisor of AAMYA Ng Ramakanta; president of AAMAA Sanaojam Nabin, president of BVAML Moirangli Devi; vice-president of KSA Seram Hemjit, president of WACVPLA Sunita Konthoujam; advisor of IPSA Kh Chingkhei Luwangcha among others, it added.
