The Guwahati police on Thursday seized 2500 kg of Ganja in Jorabat, Assam and arrested two persons as a part of its war against drugs.
In a tweet, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the Guwahati police intercepted a truck in Jorabat and seized 2500 kg of ganja.
"HUGE CATCH! In another major success, @GuwahatiPol intercepted a truck and seized 2500 kg Ganja in Jorabat. Also apprehended two accused. Great feat @assampolice. Keep it up," CM Sarma tweeted.
The Assam police also said the seized ganja seems to be Manipuri Ganja.
"To whomsoever it may concern. So, here's the thing - we’ve zapped another huge pile of what surely looks & feels like Manipuri Ganja, around 2500 kg. If this belongs to you, don't worry, it's in the safe hands of @GuwahatiPol. Just give them a call to claim it," it said.
Both Assam police and Guwahati police reiterated their commitment to fight against drug menace while thanking the chief minister for his support to the "War on Drugs".
"Thank you Hon'ble CM Shri @himantabiswa for being our guiding light in this #WarOnDrugs. We reiterate our commitment to completely destroy this menace. Kudos to @GuwahatiPol for yet another successful catch," the Assam police replied to the chief minister's tweet.
"Hon’ CM @himantabiswa Sir, your words of encouragement always boost our morale to further up the ante against the evil menace of drugs. We affirm our deepest commitment to continue the #WarOnDrugs until the menace is completely eradicated," the Guwahati police also tweeted replying to the CM's tweet.
