Speaking at the inaugural event, head of Manipuri department of Manipur University professor Toijam Tampha said that the seminar is being organised with dual intent of honouring the contributions of eminent writer MK Binodini and to give opportunity to the research scholars to present their papers.

She pointed out that according to UGC guidelines, research scholars need to present at least two papers before submitting their theses. However, since seminars and workshops could not be organised in the past two years owing to the pandemic, many of the research scholars, who are due to submit their theses, were unable to present the papers. Therefore, the seminar gives an opportunity to the research scholars to present their research works, she said.

The HOD further said that the inaugural day of the seminar focussed on literary works of MK Binodini, including film scripts, drama, short stories and lyrics among others.

She maintained that the papers presented in the seminar will later be published as a book both in Bengali script and Meetei Mayek for the benefit of the students.
