Nupi Sankirtana is not inferior to Nupa Sankritana, and the promotion of Nupi Sankirtana is highly necessary to promote the Sankritana art form equally, said JN Manipur Dance Academy director Pukhrambam Bilash on Thursday.
He was speaking at the 30th birth anniversary of Kongpal Nupee Ishei Marup at Pebam Mandap, Kongpal Kshetri Leikai, Imphal East. The programme was organised by Kongpal Nupee Isheo Marup, Kongpal Chanam Leikai, Imphal East.
For the last 30 years, the institution has been taking up the commendable work of promoting the Sankirtana which is one of the cultural art forms of Manipur commendable, he said. The initiatives taken by the institution are not an easy task and the people should appreciate the contributions made by the institution, he added.
He said the institution has been following the ethics of guru-students relationship since its establishment.
He further said that the institution should try to take the benefits provided by the government in promotion of the cultural art forms. Bilsah assured that necessary assistance will be provided from the side of JN Manipur Dance Academy.
Chairman of Rangniketan, Ajit Das said, “Our forefathers had introduced various cultural art forms and the people of the present generation should take necessary steps for safeguarding the art form.”
As a part of the function, a souvenir of the institution was released and the women artiste of the institution also demonstrated ‘Ramayana’ in the form of Nat Sankritana.
