Nata Sankirtana festival held

The festival was organised in the aim of safeguarding and promoting the Nata Sankirtana which is a rare art form of Manipuri culture to its purest form.

A one-day festival of Nata Sankirtana organised by K Ibotombi cultural academy, Charangpat, Thoubal district under the aegis of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi was held at the Charangpat maklang mamang leikai community hall on Sunday.

The event witnessed the presence of Pukhrambam Bilash singh, Sangeet Natak Awardee and also the director of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur dance academy as chief guest, while Keisam Jadu singh, guru rasdhari, JN Manipur dance academy as president and Khumukcham Chandramani Singh, grade I staff artiste, All India Radio Imphal as guest of honour respectively.

The festival was organised in the aim of safeguarding and promoting the Nata Sankirtana which is a rare art form of Manipuri culture to its purest form.

Speaking at the gathering, chief guest P Bilash emphasised the need of preserving the rich cultures which the forefathers had preserved with great care. He also pointed out the significance of the Nata Sankirtana in promoting discipline in the society. He extended profound gratitude to K Ibotombi cultural academy, Charangpat, Thoubal district for taking care of Nata Sankirtana several years ago.

A floral tribute to the late gurus of KICA was also held as a part of the event. Later, artists of KICA presented Nata Sankirtana and gave a thrill to Sankirtana lovers and art connoisseurs.
