Month-long tribal, Manipuri dances workshop concludes

The workshop was organised under the aegis of Chief Minister’s Artiste singgi Tenbang.

The month-long Tribal and Manipuri dances workshop and production organised by Lianda Folk and Classical Academy at Manipuri Jagoi Marup, Lamboikhonangkhong in Imphal West concluded on Sunday.

The workshop had been organised under the aegis of Chief Minister’s Artiste singgi Tenbang.

Speaking to the media, president of the academy Aribam Rasheshori highlighted that the workshop had been organised with the objective to help relieve the traumas and mental stress they had undergone during the conflict.

“Around 100 displaced children from various relief camps along with others took part in the workshop,” she added.

Children who took part in the workshop also showcased various dances including Maibi Laiching Jagoi, Thougal Jagoi, Chali Paring, Mao Jagoi and Kabui jagoi productions during the concluding function.

Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Guru N Jadumani and Guru N Tiken were also felicitated during the programme.

Art and Culture deputy director G Dharmadas Sharma, member of EZCC Board of Governors Budha Chingtham and retired teacher of Kendriya Vidyalaya Lamphelpat Soibam Phulindro among eminent cultural personalities were present at the concluding function.
