Tree Bean Workshop cum Exhibition in Imphal on March 15-16

A two-day Tree Bean Workshop cum Exhibition will be held in Imphal on March 15-16 in an effort to save the declining but economically important crop of Manipur, locally called yongchak, ICAR Manipur Centre said.

The workshop cum exhibition, organised by ICAR Manipur Centre in collaboration with Manipur University, CAU, IBSD, CSIR-NEIST, MOMA and AIMS, will be held at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, Imphal.

The organisers urged tea bean growers and users to participate to achieve the goal of conducting the workshop. The last date of registration is on or before March 13, 2022, ICAR said in a release signed by its joint director L Megachandra Singh.

The programme will have experts in the field for discussion on issues facing Yongchak cultivators, the release stated. It stated that Best Stalls and Exhibitors will be awarded cash prizes.

The first prize winner will be awarded cash prize of Rs 25,000, second prize Rs 15,000 and third prize Rs 10,000. Five consolation prizes of Rs 3,000 each will be given to deserving participants, the organisers said.
