Manipur Power Minister Th Biswajit Singh on Tuesday said that although fertilisers could not be transported as of now in the state due to recent flood and landslide in the neighbouring state, farmers need not worry as thousands of metric tonnes of fertilisers are allocated for the state and sufficient fertilisers are available in stock.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the Farmers’ Claim Disbursement Programme for Crop Insurance organised by Directorate of Agriculture Manipur and Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Corporation Limited under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) Kharif 2021 as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Farmers Training Hall Directorate of Agriculture, Sanjenthong.

Concerning the issues of fertilisers in the state, he said that the department has held a meeting to curb the situation. Recently the department caught fertilisers that were brought from other states, he said. The department has not issued fertilisers for black marketing instead of distributing them to the farmers, he further said. He further made an appeal to the farmers to give information to the department if they come across such kind of activities.

To give fertilisers to the farmers, the government is trying to make an arrangement for the farmers through authentication of the owners of a field, he said. Farmers should minimise the use of fertilisers in production of agricultural crops and also take note of the health of the public instead of gaining profit, he added.
