Manipur COVID-19 positivity rate rises to 7.7 per cent

Manipur recorded 236 new COVID-19 positive cases, two deaths on Wednesday.

Manipur on Wednesday recorded 236 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,17,697 while the death toll mounted to 1,817 with two more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 7.7 per cent. 

The two COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Wednesday are from Imphal West and none were vaccinated, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases Tuesday 115 and 35 positive cases respectively. Ten cases were reported from Churachandpur, 29 from Ukhrul, eight from Bishnupur, seven from Senapati, six each from Kamjong and Thoubal, five from Kangpokpi, four each from Chandel and Tengnoupal and two from Jiribam.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded new 227, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,13,259. The recovery rate is 96.23 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 2,621 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,209 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and  307 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 16,06,776 (first dose: 12,09,770 and second dose: 3,97,006).

According to the release, there are 495 vacant general beds and 106 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in nine hospitals of Manipur. 

In ILAND Hospital (Contact No. 9540404955/ 7085206820) there are 57 vacant general beds; in MSF, Little flower School (Contact No. 9311222947) there are 21 vacant general beds and seven ICU/HDU beds; in CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 30 vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 27 vacant general beds and three ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 16 vacant general beds and eight ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 40 vacant general beds and 30 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 78 vacant general beds and 22 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 180 vacant general beds and 23 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 46 general beds and seven ICU/HDU, it mentioned.
