Hero I-League: Brazilian defender Helder Labato Reibero to lead TRAU FC

TRAU FC recruit and Brazilian defender Helder Labato Reibero will lead as skipper of the 'Red Python' to the new season of Hero I-League 2021-22.

This was divulged during the launch of TRAU FC training kits in preparation for Hero I-League and IFA Tournaments.

TRAU FC or nicknamed as The Red Python, made its I-League 2nd Division debut in 2017-18 season and was elevated to Hero I-League 2018-19, after winning the Second Division. TRAU FC finished in the third position in the last edition of the Hero I-League 2020-21.

The TRAU FC management also named midfielder Sougrakpam Netrajit Singh as Vice-Captain of the outfit. 

In addition, TRAU FC have Brazilian defender Helder Lobato, Nigerian winger Joseph Mayowa in their ranks. It has also roped in Brazilian striker Thales Cruz and Uzbekistan striker Akobir and will join the squad soon, once their Visa is granted.

TRAU FC secretary, T Phulen Meitei said, “We will start our preparation for the upcoming season at Tiddim Ground, Imphal West. We have done fairly well in the last edition of the Hero I-League, where we got the third position.”

He further said, “Our motto is to promote local players to the maximum. Out of our total 30 players at our disposal, ninety nine percent are our native players and we try to stay committed to groom and support local talent in the future too.”

Speaking about the forthcoming season, he added, “We have a mixture of young and experienced players to the squad. We have promoted four of the juniors from Manipur State League to the senior squad this season.”

“There are several other prospective junior players on the watch list and they are performing well and there is all possibility they could be promoted in the senior team. However, for the time being, we have the Manipur State League and their performances will be watched closely for the big league,” he added.
