Manipur Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) general secretary (admin) Khundrakpam Kanna Meitei along with 2,600 members recently resigned from the party membership following a conflict among the national party leaders.

Following his resignation, a press meet was held on Wednesday at his residence at Lamsang, Imphal West regarding his stand for resignation.

Following the demise of LJP national president Ram Vilas Paswan, the party had become unstable after its leaders Chirag Pawan and Pashupati Kumar Paras landed into a conflict, said former LJP president Lamsang Kendra Thiyam Nando.

As the motto of Kanba is to serve the people of Lamsang AC and not the party, he along with his fellow members had tendered resignation from the party, he added.

He said that Kanba will be contesting the upcoming Assembly election from the Lamsang AC as an independent candidate or from any other party chosen by his supporters.

Pointing out that the past leaders of Lamsang AC had deceived the people of the constituency, he stated, "Unlike them Kanba is an energetic youth who had come up to serve the people of Lamsang with full dedication."

Highlighting the various social works taken up by Kanba during the pandemic, he sought the support of the people of Lamsang AC to elect Kanba as their leaders in the upcoming election.
