The Quarantine Management Committee, Thoubal Kendra Covid 19 Aid on Tuesday stated that it was perturbed by one of the catering service volunteers who had tested COVID-19 positive recently. The committee in a press release informed that the test results of all his contacts were negative.
Committee in-charge L Biswajeet Meitei further stated that there were over 10 community quarantine centres fully functioning within Thoubal Assembly Constituency and provided help to more than 350 inmates so far.
The committee and localities of Thoubal were distressed when one of the volunteers had been declared COVID 19 tested positive. They felt perturbed when people started viewing all the rest of the volunteers as possible carriers of the coronavirus despite the spirit of sacrifice exhibited by the committee volunteers, the release added.
The release further mentioned that so far more than 50 persons in the contact list of the positive volunteer have been tested negative. Those whose results showed negative includes his wife, sons and other family members and also his co-volunteer who had shared the same bed with him. The volunteer who had tested positive did his last duty of catering service on June 6 last. He performed his duty with full COVID-19 PPE and did not establish contact with the inmates after June 6. If he contacted the virus, it could have been before June 6, the release argued.
