Manipur records 442 more COVID-19 positive cases, eight deaths

Manipur now has 4,139 COVID-19 active cases, according to the latest update by the state health department.

After witnessing a decline in the number of daily COVID-19 cases below 400, Manipur on Saturday recorded 442 new COVID-19 positive cases, including two security personnel, pushing the state's tally to 1,10,657 while the death toll reached 1,747 with eight more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate stood at 12.1per cent. 

Of the eight COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Saturday, two deaths were reported from Imphal West, three from Imphal East and one each from Bishnupur, Senapati and Thoubal, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room. It stated that none of the eight deaths were vaccinated and six persons had co-morbidities.

Despite the fall in the number of new positive cases, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 187 and 69 cases respectively. Forty-eight were from Bishnupur, 19 from Churachandpur, 17 from Kakching, 16 from Kamjong, 15 from Kangpokpi, 10 from Senapati, 18 each from Thoubal and Ukhrul, five from Chandel and three from Noney. 

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded new 598 recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,04,771. The recovery rate is 94.68 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 4,139 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,708 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and  367 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 14,74,052 (first dose: 11,75,371 and second dose: 2,98,681).

Vacant beds in hospitals

According to the release, there are 304 vacant general beds and 85 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in nine hospitals of Manipur.

In ILAND Hospital (Contact No. 9540404955/ 7085206820) there are nine vacant general beds; in MSF, Little flower School (Contact No. 9311222947) there are zero vacant general beds and 10 ICU/HDU beds; in CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 28 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 22 vacant general beds and three ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 17 vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds.

In Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158), there are 28 vacant general beds and 24 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 64 vacant general beds and 16 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 120 vacant general beds and 18 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 16 general beds and three  ICU/HDU, it mentioned.
