Manipur's COVID-19 confirmed tally mounts to 1,09,843 as daily positive number rises yet again

Manipur on Thursday recorded 520 new COVID-19 positive cases and four more COVID-19 deaths

After witnessing a sudden drop in the daily COVID-19 positive cases last Monday to 275, Manipur on Thursday recorded 520 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,09,843 while the death toll mounted to 1,732 with four more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is now 12.6 per cent.

The new positive cases included four personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). 

Of the four COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Thursday, one death each was reported from Imphal East, Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Thoubal, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

It stated, of the four deaths, three persons had co-morbidities and one of them were vaccinated with 1st dose.

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 178 and 97 cases respectively. Twenty-three from Bishnupur, 39 from Churachandpur, 32 Kakching, 28 from Kamjong, 42 from Thoubal, 63 from Ukhrul, seven from Chandel, six from Kangpokpi, four each from Senapati and Tamenglong and three from Noney. 

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded 520 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,02,603. The recovery rate is 93.40 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 5,508 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,481 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and  371 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 14,62,972 (first dose: 11,72,909 and second dose: 2,90,063).

Vacant number of beds in hospitals

According to the release, there are 295 vacant general beds and 71 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in nine hospitals of Manipur currently. 

In ILAND Hospital (Contact No. 9540404955/ 7085206820) there are 25 vacant general beds; in MSF, Little flower (Contact No. 9311222947) there is one vacant general bed and 10 ICU/HDU beds; in CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 27 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 19 vacant general beds and zero ICU/HDU bed.

In Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 17 vacant general beds and four ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 21 vacant general beds and 16 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 59 vacant general beds and 15 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 103 vacant general beds and 17 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 23 general beds and four ICU/HDU, it mentioned.
