The All Manipur Music Association (AMMA) extended its gratitude to the state government for declaring ‘Sanaleibak Manipur Koloi Nangi Manipur’ written by B Jayentakumar Sharma and composed by Aribam Syam Sharma as the State Song of Manipur.
A release by AMMA signed by its secretary, A Rabindra stated that ‘Sanaleibak Manipur Koloi Nangi Manipur’ is such a meaningful song that tells the beauty of state and incites to create patriotic feeling to the public. The song has been broadcast in All India Radio Imphal since April 9, 1967 and declaring it as the State Song is highly deserved.
The association would like to extend appreciation to the people who were involved in declaring the song as state song, particularly chief minister, cabinet ministers and department of Art and Culture, it added.
It further stated that late B Jayantakumar Sharma who was the lyricist of the song was the founder member of AMMA. To commemorate his dedication, executive members of AMMA have resolved to urge the state government to declare the song as state song. In this regard, an application was also submitted to the CAF and PD minister.
While the minister was putting his effort, the Ministry of Culture had issued a notification to keep one of the State Song. The order has made the state government to declare ‘Sanaleibak Manipur Koloi Nangi Manipur’ as the State Song of Manipur, the release stated.
