Manipur daily Covid positivity rate drops below 10 per cent

Despite the drop in the number of new COVID-19 cases, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases among the districts with 114 and 80 cases respectively.

Manipur on Tuesday recorded 403 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,08,948 while the death toll mounted to 1,722 with six more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 9.3 per cent. 

Of the six COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Tuesday, two deaths were reported each from Imphal East and Kakching and one fatality each from Bishnupur and Churachandpur, according to a release issued by the State COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

The release stated that of the six deaths, four persons had co-morbidities and one of them were vaccinated with the first dose and two with second dose.

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 114 and 80 cases respectively. Twenty-eight from Bishnupur, 48 from Churachandpur, 10 from Jiribam, 33 from Kakching, 15 each from Kangpokpi and Thoubal, 12 from Ukhrul, seven from Senapati, six from Chandel, three from Tamenglong and one each from Tengnoupal and Kamjong.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded 946 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,01,505. The recovery rate is 93.16 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 5,721 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,320 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and  377 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 14,49,596 (first dose: 11,70,210 and second dose: 2,79,386) as of Tuesday.

According to the release, there are 226 vacant general beds and 65 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in nine hospitals of Manipur. 

In ILAND Hospital (Contact No. 9540404955/ 7085206820) there are 15 vacant general beds; in MSF, Little flower (Contact No. 9311222947) there are three vacant general beds and 10 ICU/HDU beds; in CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 30 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds;  in Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 18 vacant general beds and one ICU/HDU beds.

In Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 15 vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 13 vacant general beds and 12 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 58 vaccnt general beds and 16 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 66 vacant general beds and 13 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are eight general beds and two ICU/HDU, it mentioned.
