The ‘Joint Action Committee (JAC) of NH-2 Expansion Affected Land Owners’ on Tuesday called a 41-hour shutdown i.e. from 6 am of Wednesday till 11 pm of Thursday at seven revenue villages in Imphal West district.
The decision to call the bandh was taken on Tuesday during a joint meeting of the seven revenue villages namely Mantri Leikai, Khonghampat, Pheidinga, Tendongyan, Maharabi, Sekmai and KanglatongbI, during which many grievances and their solutions were deliberated, the JAC stated in a release.
The JAC stated that the participants in the meeting had expressed their dissatisfaction against the action of deputy commissioner of Imphal West.
"The responses to our repeated complaints were not satisfactory. So, just for the sake of better positive response from the government, the meeting has decided to call a total shutdown, starting from 6 am of August 11 till 11pm of August 12," it mentioned.
It further stated that medical, electricity, water supply, cultural activities, postal, press, media, NHIDCL assessment work, exams will be exempted from the shutdown. The bandh supporters will follow the SOPs and maintain social distancing by keeping in view the current Covid situation, it added.
