India's daily new COVID-19 case tally continues to drop

The weekly positivity rate continued to remain below five per cent, currently at 2.42 per cent, while the daily positivity rate also continued to remain below five per cent at 2.34 per cent.

India continued to witness downtrend in daily COVID-19 positive cases with 41,649 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, against Friday’s 44,230 new cases.

According to the latest update by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, India's COVID-19 active caseload currently stands at 4,08,920, constituting 1.29 per cent of the total cases.

The country’s total COVID-19 confirmed cases reached 3,16,12,794 as of Saturday, while the death toll rose to 4,23,842 with 598 more patients having succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.

The weekly positivity rate continued to remain below five per cent, currently at 2.42 per cent, while the daily positivity rate also continued to remain below five per cent at 2.34 per cent.

The total number of recoveries has reached 3,07,81,263 across the country so far. Currently, the recovery rate is 97.37 per cent, as 37,291 more patients recovered in last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, testing capacity has been substantially ramped up across the country in several states where the positivity rate remains high.

In total, 46.64 crore tests have been conducted across the country, while 46.15 crore total vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, according to the update by the ministry.
