MACS invites journalists for media fellowship

The fellowship is open to journalists working in print media with a minimum of three years experience in journalism, MACS stated.

The office of the Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) on Sunday announced that it is inviting eligible journalists based in Manipur to apply for a six-month media fellowship to write and publish news reports on HIV and AIDS.

The fellowship is open to journalists working in print media with a minimum of three years experience in journalism, MACS stated in a release signed by its project director Haobam Rosita.

MACS stated that applicants must submit an application along with Bio-data and a letter of support from the Editor that the output under the fellowship will be published (mandatory for all the candidates).

Applicants must also submit a brief proposal, outlining the subject and story ideas that the applicant proposes to focus on, if selected for the fellowship, and they must submit at least three samples of works published earlier on HIV/AIDS, it further stated while mentioning that preference will be given to the latest published works. Freelancers can also apply subject to fulfilment of above conditions, it added.

It stated that the duration of the fellowship will be of six months i.e. from September 2021 to February 2022. It stated that two journalists will be selected for the fellowship. Selected fellows will receive stipend of Rs 50,000 only to support research, travel and writing in two instalments, it added.

The last date of submission will be August 7 and the selection of applicants will be done by a jury of MACS officials, MACS stated.

It further stated that selected applicants from the print media will be expected to generate eight news stories of 1,500 words each, based on the research carried out under the fellowship. Original clippings of these articles/stories will have to be submitted on the completion of the fellowship programme, it stated.
