Cadet Khundrakpam Suraj Singh of Sainik School Imphal has been conferred a scholarship of Rs. 25,000 by the Subroto Mukerjee Sports Education Society for being an outstanding player in the 60th Subroto Cup Football Tournament - 2019 in the U-17 category held in 2019.
Suraj is the youngest son of Khundrakpam Inao Singh of Kha Potshangbam Maning Leikai, Bishnupur and is presently studying in class 11, said a statement.
He had participated in the 58th and 59th editions of Subroto Cup International football tournaments, it said. He had been judged the Best Player in several inter-school tournaments at different levels, it added.
The Subroto Cup Football Tournament is one of the most prestigious football tournaments participated by teams from all over the country and abroad, it further said.
The principal of SSI group captain HCS Chauhan lauded the cadet’s achievement and expressed hope that he would continue to bring glory to the school and the state, it added.
