Manipur's total COVID-19 positive tally rose to 1,075 as 19 more returnees tested positive for the virus, the state health department said on Friday.
The fresh cases included three from Churachandpur, one each from Kamjong and Senapati, nine from Thoubal and five others from Ukhrul, the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated in a release.
Altogether 39 persons were discharged on Friday after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. With it, the total numbers of active and recovered cases stand at 682 and 393 respectively. The recovery rate is 36.55 per cent, it said.
Meanwhile, clarifying about the video that was circulated in social media about careless disposal of PPEs etc., the release stated that the health department follows strict protocols for disposal of PPE and other biomedical waste utilised by Covid treatment hospitals and testing laboratories etc.
As PPEs and other protective items are utilised by many private/non-governmental facilities also nowadays, it advised all persons and facilities using PPE etc. to ensure that protocols of the Health and Family Welfare Ministry and the Central Board of Pollution Control are strictly adhered to.
On Thursday, with the reports of 86 more returnees testing positive for COVID-19, the total positive tally crossed the 1,000 mark at 1,056 and active cases was 702 and recovery cases totaled 354.
