Manipur reports 788 new COVID-19 positive cases

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of daily COVID-19 positive cases with 285 and 190 cases respectively.

Manipur's COVID-19 tally on Saturday surged to 76,820 as 788 more persons tested positive for the disease in 24 hours period,  the state health department said.

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of daily COVID-19 positive cases with 285 and 190 cases respectively. The other new COVID-19 positive cases included 74 from Churachandpur, 68 from Bishnupur, 56 from Kakching, 55 from Thoubal, 12 from Kamjong, 11 each from Ukhrul and Senapati, 10 from Chandel, six from Tamenglong, five from Noney, two from Jiribam and one each from Tengnoupal, Pherzawl and Kangpokpi, a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

All necessary medical precautionary measure like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.

COVID-19 also claimed seven more lives in Manipur during the same period, pushing the death toll to 1,258. Of the seven fatalities, three deaths were from Imphal West, two from Bishnupur and one each from Imphal East and Kakching, according to the release.

The state also recorded 483 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases in Manipur to 68,654. With it, the number of COVID-19 in the state stands at 6,908 and the recovery rate is 89.36 per cent as of Saturday.

Meanwhile,  a total of 1,670 D-type oxygen cylinders and 379 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 2 hours, the release stated.

It further stated that the cumulative number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Manipur reached 8,64,482 (first dose: 7,71,102 and second dose: 93,380).
