NDRF conducts tree plantation drive in Imphal West

The NDRF conducted community awareness programme on COVID-19 and tree plantation drive at Singda Kadangband, Imphal West on Saturday.

A team 12-P of 12 Battalion National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) conducted a tree plantation cum community awareness programme on COVID-19 at Singda Kadangband, Imphal West on Saturday.

A release said that the tree plantation drive was organised in collaborations with pradhan of Lairenkabi Kadangband Pangchayat, E Prem Kumar along with Kadangband Apunba Naharol Club. It began at 10 am till 12:30 and planted 180 saplings.

Under the aegis of Ministry of Home Affairs Akhil Bharatiya Vriksharopan Abhiyan, the main objective of the programme was to enhance the purity of environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, conserving water, preserving soil and supporting wildlife trees, it added.

The plantation included 40 saplings of jackfruit, 40 bitter beans (Yongchak), 30 Indian olive (Chorphon), 20 amla trees, 20 gulmohar trees and 30 bokul trees, the release said.
