To encourage mass COVID-19 vaccination drives in all the assembly constituencies of the state, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced that a cash reward of Rs 20 lakh would be given to the first fully vaccinated assembly constituency.
The CM made the announcement during the launching function of Mobile Insulated Vaccination Bus at Khurai Lamlong Keithel, Imphal East on Wednesday. The Mobile Insulated Vaccination Bus was donated by Khurai MLA, L Susindro Meitei.
Addressing the public, Biren said that India has started the world’s largest free vaccination drive under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He informed that vaccination is the only weapon to fight COVID-19.
Stating that people have lost their loved ones due to the pandemic, the CM urged all the eligible persons to get vaccinated at the earliest to protect against the dreaded disease.
Seeking people’s support and cooperation in the fight against COVID-19 disease, he said that “we all must maintain COVID-19 appropriate behaviour and guidelines issued by the government.”
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Susindro said that 5 kg of rice, hand sanitisers and face masks would be provided to all the persons who volunteered themselves for vaccination. People can avail the facility of the mobile vaccination bus at their homes if there are at least 10 persons to be vaccinated. Such service would continue until the entire assembly constituency is vaccinated.
The function was also attended by Transport minister, Vungzagin Valte; Rajya Sabha MP, Leishemba Sanajaoba; Kakching MLA, Mayanglambam Rameshwar and others.
