Yoga session for road construction workers held

The yoga session for the construction workers was organised in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) of Ministry of Ayush, Government of India and all COVID-19 precautions and Covid appropriate behaviour were followed.


44 Assam Rifles under 22 Sector Assam Rifles IGAR (E) organised a yoga session for road construction workers at Sangrungpang village camp site on Thursday.

The camp site at Sangrungpang village is located some 19 km away from Tamenglong town under Tamenglong police station.

The yoga session for the construction workers was organised in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) of Ministry of Ayush, Government of India and all COVID-19 precautions and Covid appropriate behaviour were followed. 

“These workers are contributing immensely towards betterment and development of the region. They are toiling amid Covid restrictions to usher a new era of development in the hill region of Manipur,” stated 44 Assam Rifles adjutant.

He said that the yoga session with the workers also marked the celebration of 7th International Yoga Day being celebrated across the world on June 21.

He informed that during the yoga session the workers were made to practice the Yoga asanas prescribed in CYP for 45 minutes with the help of a Battalion Yoga instructor. An awareness programme was also conducted for the workers to provide them an insight of the benefits of practicing Yoga, he added. 

Yoga has proved to be of great value during the trying times of COVID-19 pandemic by playing a significant role in psycho-social care and rehabilitation of COVID-19 patients in quarantine and isolation, he added.
