One pharmacist was arrested with 39 bottles of illegal codeine-containing cough syrups (CCS) from his pharmacy located at Thongju Part-II, Pechu Lampak by a team of Singjamei Police Station on Wednesday.
According to police, the arrested person was identified as Phandom Noteshor Singh, 53, son of (Late) Ph Bokul Singh of Thongju Part II, Pechu Lampak. He owns a pharmacy named Ibudou Pharmacy at the location of his residence.
Based on reliable information, the police team conducted a search at the pharmacy and seized 39 bottles of illegal codeine-containing cough syrups inside the pharmacy. The pharmacy owner was arrested at the spot and seized the CCS bottles by observing necessary formalities for further legal course of action, it added.
