A mudslide which occurred around 10 am on Sunday has destroyed around four acres of paddy field in Twilang area along Imphal-Tamenglong road, between T Waichong Sub Divisional Headquarters and Selsi village.

The mudslide, which took place after a few days of continuous rainfall, has also interrupted movement of vehicles. Paddy fields in the areas covering an area of around 300 meters have been destroyed.

As the mudslide continued to increase, the locals were apprehensive that it could further damage more areas of the paddy fields.

Villagers of T Waichong and its surrounding area attempted to clear the debris. However, it has become impossible by manual work owing to gradual increase of the mudslide.

Considering the alarming situation which could escalate, IT Road Joint Monitoring Development Committee seeks immediate intervention of the authority concerned and state government, to avoid further disaster.
