India's COVID-19 downtrend pushes active caseload below 20 lakh

The number of active cases decreased by 1,01,875 in the last 24 hours. Following it, currently, the nationwide tally of COVID-19 active cases stood at 17,93,645, as per the latest update by the ministry.

India continues to witness a declining trend in daily new COVID-19 cases with 1.32 lakh positive tally reported in the last 24 hours, the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry stated.

The downtrend in daily new COVID-19 positive cases has pushed the country's active caseload further down, falling below 20 lakh.  The number of active cases decreased by 1,01,875 in the last 24 hours. Following it, currently, the nationwide tally of COVID-19 active cases stood at 17,93,645, as per the latest update by the ministry.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases for the 20th consecutive day. The number of total recoveries across the country has reached 2,61,79,085 so far, as 2,31,456 patients recovered in the last 24 hours.

The nationwide recovery rate increased to 92.48 per cent.

The weekly positivity rate touched 8.21 per cent as the daily positivity rate fell to 6.57 per cent, less than 10 per cent for the ninth consecutive day.

As testing capacity has been substantially ramped up across the country, a total of 35 cr tests have been conducted so far, the ministry stated. And, 21.85 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
