Village community isolation centre opened at Churachandpur's Pearsonmun village

Pearsonmun village has so far recorded three COVID-19 deaths and 33 COVID-19 active cases, including three new positive cases in the last 24 hours.

In view of the consistent surge in COVID-19 positive cases and deaths in Pearsonmun village of Lamka Tehsil, Churachandpur district, the COVID-19 Task Force of Young Paite Association (YPA), Pearsonmun Unit opened a village community isolation centre at Tunnu Schools of Nursing on Friday. 

The community isolation centre, which will house more than 30 COVID-19 patients, was inaugurated by the SDO of Churachandpur, Ginmuan Ngaihte in the presence of YPA Church leader, village authority and representative of chief medical officer, Dr Thanglalmuan. The caretaker of the centre was presented with PPEs and other essential kits during the occasion.

President of YPA, Pearsonmun Unit said that volunteers are placed at entry and exit points of the village round the clock and no person was allowed to come out of their houses. The movement of villagers will be monitored even if there is no extension order of lockdown by the district administration of Churachandpur, he added.

Meanwhile, sources said that the construction works along National Highway-102B have been halted as more than 20 workers, including drivers tested COVID-19 positive.
