Four Rongmei organisations have condemned the gun-fights between two factions of Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) that took place at Longmai-5 on May 24 in which two individuals lost their lives.
A joint statement from Rongmei Naga People’s Organisation (Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland), Rongmei Naga Council Manipur, Rongmei Naga Luh Phuam Manipur (Women Wing), and Rongmei Naga Students’ Organisation stated the gunfight between the two factions of ZUF was uncalled for since killing one’s own brother can never be considered an act of bravery especially when it is done for an unworthy cause.
It further stated that such an act of confrontation is a clear indication of defying people’s admonitions, and hence condemnable and is not acceptable by the people.
The organisations are also keeping an eye on the role of the 10 Assam Rifles under whose nose the incident took place, it continued while also mentioning that the camp of ZUF (K), which was reportedly attacked by ZUF (J) on that fateful day, was situated within 500 meters from the 10 AR camp, it stated.
“We would like to keep on record that the Rongmei people are peace-loving people and will never tolerate bloodshed in our jurisdiction. And the Rongmei people shall boycott whoever violates the stand of the people had already been made loud and clear,” it added.
