Senior Citizens for Society expresses grief at demise of its president Laisom Lalit

SCS also extended its condolences on the demise of other functionaries and life members of the society during the pandemic.

The Senior Citizens for Society (SCS), Manipur expressed its deep sorrow on the demise of its president, Laisom Lalit Singh, who succumbed to COVID-19 at the age of 85 at Shija Hospital on May 16.

A release by general secretary of SCS, L Sadananda Singh has stated that Laisom Lalit was an eminent politician before he left politics and joined the fraternity of senior citizens in 2004. He was the president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, elected as MLA of Keishamthong assembly constituency several times and served as minister in different capacities. He was known for his uprightness and integrity and was a minister with a difference.

His demise is a great loss for the senior citizens fraternity and may his soul rest in peace in the heavenly abode, it added.

SCS also extended its condolences on the demise of other functionaries and life members of the society during the pandemic.

“We deeply condoled the deaths of vice-president of SCS, Prof Janab Khan, and life members of SCS, Khaidem Ingocha Singh; noted historian, RK Jhajajit Singh; and Sahitya Akademi awardee, Dr Jodhachandra Sanasam,” stated SCS in the release.
